There are a number of units and departments at UIC and within the University of Illinois system that provide professional learning resources to employees and instructional services to the campus. Users interested in content from a particular provider may wish to contact that provider directly for more detailed information. University of Illinois Required Training Heading link

The training courses listed below are to be completed annually by all university staff and faculty.

UIC faculty and staff are required to complete biennial security awareness training to comply with the University of Illinois Technology Security Program. Depending on your role at the University, you may have additional training requirements such as FERPA and HIPAA training.

    Technology Solutions conducts workshops for staff, faculty, and students on topics such as computers, applications, telecommunications, network services, security, and software.

  • LinkedIn Learning

    LinkedIn Learning offers video-based tutorials 24/7 for convenient, self-paced online learning. Industry experts teach thousands of tutorials on Leadership Competencies, Business Skills, and Computer Applications. Tutorials may range from 10-minute demonstrations to seven or eight hours of detailed information, longer tutorials are broken down into easy-to-manage 5-15 minute segments, and learners finish at their own pace. Your UIC NetID is required for login.

  • Decision Support Training

    Administrative Information Technology Services (AITS) provides webinars and instructor-led training in web intelligence, web reporting, and other decision support training.

OAE provides interactive workshops to enhance compliance, diversity, accessibility and other topics for all employees of the University.

OVCR provides training and educational opportunities in Animal Care and Institutional Biosafety, Protection of Research Subjects, and Research Development Services.

 Environmental, Health, and Safety Office (EHSO)

The Environmental, Health, and Safety Office (EHSO) offers both instructor-led and online courses on a wide range of occupational safety topics including laboratory safety, hazard communication, asbestos, bloodborne pathogens, confined spaces, etc. Many of these courses are required by OSHA or other regulatory agencies.

The University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System (UIHHSS)

The Department of Clinical Practice and Professional Development is part of Nursing Services and offers continuing nursing education, professional development, competency assessment, and certification support in a variety of nursing specialties are available in Nursing Services through the Employee Portal.

UIC EC offers individual courses and extended programs of study, both credit and noncredit, to help Chicago’s professional community stay abreast of cutting-edge practices and developments. Committed to access and flexibility, the EC brings the excellence of UIC’s world-class faculty and diverse academic programs to teachers and other working professionals.

UIC Extended Campus offers two on-campus project management programs; the Project Management (PMP) Prep (accelerated course) and the Project Management course at a reduced cost for University of Illinois alumni, students, and staff.
Project Management (PMP) Prep – this accelerated course is specifically designed for individuals who are preparing for the Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Exam on an accelerated timetable and meets for four (4) consecutive weekday sessions.
The Project Management Course provides in-depth instruction on critical project management skills and team management skills, which are imperative with the matrix design of project teams. It is designed for project managers and project team members in need of formal training in project management including change management and communication plans and meets for five (5) consecutive Saturday sessions.
Both courses satisfy the Project Management Institute (PMI) educational requirements to sit for their certification exams.
