All leave benefit eligible employees will be granted three paid gift days and one President Designated Holiday during the December/January holiday break. Employees do not need to use benefit time for those days. Some colleges and departments may follow an alternate schedule and will communicate directly with their employees.
The campus holiday schedule for the period from December 23, 2022 through January 2, 2023 is summarized below:

(1) All employees working in essential units, including but not limited to the University of Illinois Hospital and Clinics; Biologic Resources Laboratory; units reporting to the Vice Chancellor and Vice Provost for Student Affairs, including Campus Auxiliary Services (CAS) Administration, CAS Facilities, Campus Housing, Counseling Center, Dean of Students, Dining Services, Dorin Forum, Student Affairs IT, Student Centers, Credit Union I Arena, and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs; Technology Solutions; UIC Law Plant and Real Estate Operations and UIC Law Security Operations; and units reporting to the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services, including Facilities Management, Office of Preparedness and Response, Utilities and Energy Services, Parking Services, Environmental Health and Safety, Planning, Sustainability and Project Management, and the UIC Police Department.

(2) Employees required to work on the three University-designated gift days and the President Designated Holiday are entitled to four alternate gift days. Group B employees of the UI Hospital and Clinics will receive the gift days and President Designated Holiday as additional floating holidays that may be used any time between December 23, 2022 and June 30, 2023, with supervisor approval. All other Group B employees required to work on the gift days and/or President Designated Holiday may schedule alternate days off between December 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023.

During the break, the University will not be officially closed, and essential services will be provided. General administrative offices will close, and academic buildings will have entrance doors locked.
