Many independently managed administrative units exist within the campus environment. UIC HR partners with these administrative units, the colleges, and the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (UIHHSS) to coordinate HR services, programs and policies.

Following are examples of the units UIC Human Resources partners with:

Student Employment Office (SEO)

Housed within the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Student Employment offers assistance to students seeking part-time work either on or off campus. The SEO assists UIC departments and off-campus employers seeking to hire students. Additionally, the office sponsors job fairs throughout the year.

Office for Access and Equity (OAE)

As part of the Office of the Chancellor, the Office for Access and Equity offers dispute resolution services to faculty, academic, and support staff. OAE strives to increase access to employment, programs, and services in an environment free of unlawful discrimination and harassment.

Office of Business and Financial Services (OBFS)

The Office of Business and Financial Services supports the business and financial operations of the University, assisting units in their daily operations. OBFS serves the University community through payroll and benefits management.

Faculty Affairs

Faculty Affairs is a section under the Vice Provost of Faculty Affairs, which reports directly to the Provost/Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. FA oversees and administers all policies and procedures related to faculty appointments.

As an example of direct collaboration with UIC HR, the operational workflow and processing functions for faculty employment activities are merged into UIC HR via the HR Service Center. This integration focuses on transactional processing aspects of HR, e.g., HR Front End transactions, employment verifications, State Universities Retirement System (SURS) support, tuition waivers, and shared benefits.
