Frequently Asked Questions Heading link

How do I get access to Cornerstone if I am a Department User?

Initial access will be setup by the project team.  Department users are required to complete the Cornerstone Overview and Navigation prior to gaining access.  After 7/11/2022, your Unit Security Contact can request your access.

How do I get access to Cornerstone if I am an approver?

Employees, hiring managers, and approvers, will not need to request access to Cornerstone.  They will automatically have access and training is not required.

How do I get access to Cornerstone if I am an employee?

Employees do not need to request access to Cornerstone.  They will automatically have access and training is not required.  Employee should login using the NetID and password.

Will everyone who has a NetID be in the system?

There will be a feed to pull information for active employees from Banner into Cornerstone.

Do all users need access to JDX and CSOD?

You do not need access to both systems. Most Departmental users will have access to both.  Please work with your Unit Security Contact (USC) to assign the appropriate access.

Many users will not need security if they participate in parts of a search.  Some of these roles include:

  • Search committee members
  • Search review team/administrative support
  • Interviewers

Will we see all the searches that an applicant applied to?

No.  You can only see applicants that have applied to postings that you have access.

What requisitions do I have access to view?

Department users will have access at the department level.  So, depending on your department level access, you should be able to view a requisition, along with all of the applicants that have applied to the job posting, for any organization that is under that department.  These requisitions will appear under the All Jobs tab on the Manage Requisitions screen in Cornerstone.

Will we have access to all areas within our department like HireTouch?

Security in Cornerstone is at the 3-digit department level.

What is the definition of a requisition?

A requisition in Cornerstone is created by the vacancy request that is fed from JDXpert.  This was referred to as a job previously in HireTouch.

Are recruiters responsible for the job postings?

The UICHR Recruiter that works with your unit/department is responsible for completing the civil service requisition and post each search in Cornerstone.  Units should not edit a requisition or post a search for civil service vacancies.

What is the difference between external and internal Career Sites?

External searches (most searches), must always be posted on both the external career site AND the internal career site.

Internal searches will only be posted on the internal career site. Jobs that are in-house searches can be posted on the internal site. Jobs that are available to those outside the University are posted on the external site.

Which external job sites get updated through Cornerstone?

Currently Cornerstone does not feed any external job sites.  Some sites will scrape and repost postings off of Cornerstone, such as LinkedIn and Indeed.  If you do post to external sites, please follow the appropriate procedures to include the required language in those postings.

Will the regional locations or satellite offices have a separate career sites?

All jobs will be posted on the main UIC career site.  These jobs can be filtered to each location, including Rockford, Peoria, and the Division of Specialized Care for Children.

Am I required to create the offer letter in Cornerstone?

No.  However, it is recommended to use the offer letter templates that we built in Cornerstone.  All offer letters are available in Cornerstone.  Please start with these templates and feel free to personalize.

What letterhead will be made available for an offer letter?

UIC letterhead is available.  We may add more types of letterhead in the future.

What is Resume Parsing?

Resume Parsing is a feature of an applicant tracking system that automatically collects resume information, such as employment and education history, and populates it into the appropriate fields on an employment application.  While resume parsing can help fill out the application, an applicant should always verify and correct data collected before submitting an application.

What happens if the feed from JDXpert fails?

If your vacancy request in JDXpert fails to load into Cornerstone.  Please contact the UICHR Help Desk and we will investigate the issue.

What does it mean when the Description Feed Status or Qualifications Feed Status fields shows “failed” on the requisition?

The Description and Minimum Qualifications field on the requisition have a limitation of 3,950 characters on the integration feed. If it is exceeded, the formatting and some text will not come over to Cornerstone, resulting in the “failed” status.  You will need to check the fields in JDXpert and update the field(s) accordingly in Cornerstone BEFORE the vacancy is posted.  The character limitation does not apply in Cornerstone.
