Introduction
Retirement marks an important milestone in an employee's UIC journey. The Retiree Recognition Gift Program provides a meaningful way for UIC to recognize and thank retirees for their years of service and contributions to our university community. The Retiree Gift Program was created to ensure that all UIC retirees have an opportunity to be recognized and celebrated for their years of dedicated service.
Gift Selection
Employees who retire in 2026 will receive an email and mailer with information about the Retiree Recognition Gift Program in March including a link to select a special gift. Once selected, the gift will be shipped directly to the retiree’s home as a token of appreciation for their years of dedicated service to UIC.

Who is eligible for a retiree recognition gift?
Employees who have a documented retirement from UIC during the 2026 calendar year and are eligible to become SURS annuitants are eligible to participate in the Retiree Recognition Gift Program.
When can retirees select their gift?
Eligible retirees will receive information about the program by email and mail in March 2027. The communications will include a link to the online gift selection site.
The online shop will open during the month of March.
How do I select my gift?
Follow the link provided in your email or mailed notification to access the gift selection site. You will be able to review the available options and select the gift you would like to receive.
Is there a cost for the gift?
The gift is provided by the UIC as a token of appreciation for your years of service.
How will I receive my gift?
Your selected gift will be shipped directly to the address you provide when selecting your gift.
When will I receive my gift?
Your gift will be shipped after the selection period closes and will arrive in the month of April.
Can I have my gift shipped to an address different than my home?
Yes. Your gift will be shipped to the mailing address you enter when you select your gift. Please be sure to enter a complete physical street address, as gifts cannot be shipped to a P.O. Box.
What if I don't receive email or mailed notification in March?
If you are an eligible retirees and do not receive information about the program, please contact UIC HR Employee Recognition specialprograms@uillinois.edu for assistance.
How do I update my mailing address or email address with UIC?
Visit the My Profile page in My UI Info to update home address, phone number, and personal email address .
**Please note that an employee’s work email address (@uic.edu and @uillinois.edu) will expire shortly after retirement from the University.
